Israel: Video Shows Jewish Extremists Celebrating Death of Palestinian Toddler – Democracy Now!

Posted by uscsjp on December 28, 2015

Israelivideo

Israeli authorities say they are investigating newly released video which appears to show Jewish extremists celebrating the death of a Palestinian toddler in an arson attack last summer. The footage, which aired on Israel’s Channel 10 news, was filmed at a wedding. It shows two men apparently stabbing pictures of 18-month-old Ali Dawabsheh, who was killed in an arson attack, allegedly by Jewish settlers. The fire also killed his parents.

To all ANSWER activists, friends and supporters,

On Sunday, March 20, 2016, there will be a major National March on Washington, D.C., to support Palestine and the Palestinian people. Stand with Palestine, say NO to the racist reign of terror and the Apartheid Wall, and say YES to the right of Palestinian refugees to return home.

Buses are being reserved and organized. Transportation centers are being set up in cities up and down the East Coast and in the Midwest. We expect people from every region to descend on Washington, D.C.

The National March and Rally is timed to coincide with the opening of the AIPAC Convention in downtown Washington, D.C. We will gather in front of the White House for a rally at 12 Noon. At 1:00 pm we will march to the D.C. Convention Center, the site of the AIPAC (American Israeli Public Affairs Committee) conference.

Al-Awda, The Palestinian Right to Return Coalition and the ANSWER Coalition are co-sponsoring the National March on March 20 (#‎SupportPalestineInDC2016). We are expecting hundreds of organizations and individual leaders to endorse this activity and join the effort!

What you can do:

  1. Become an endorser of this important national action
  2. RSVP online to say you’re coming
  3. Sign up if you can help bring other people from your area to Washington on March 20

Palestine is calling and the world must answer. International solidarity can make the difference, as it did in bringing an end to apartheid in South Africa. This must be a united effort for justice. We must stand together to reject the efforts by the Israeli state and settlers to abuse, violate and evict the Palestinian people. We say NO to racism and YES to self-determination.

Please join and help bring thousands of people to Washington, D.C., onSunday, March 20, 2016.

Free Palestine,

Brian Becker, Sarah Sloan and Eugene Puryear
on behalf of the ANSWER Coalition

Israel Bombs Damascus Neighborhood, Killing Hezbollah Commander and Civilians – Democracy Now!

HEADLINES

The Israeli military has fired artillery into southern Lebanon in what it said was retaliation for rocket fire from the Lebanese side. The exchange comes after Israel assassinated a top commander with the Lebanese group Hezbollah in Syria. Samir Kuntar was freed in 2008 after spending nearly 30 years in an Israeli prison for his role in the killings of three Israelis in a 1979 attack. Kuntar died Saturday when Israel bombed a residential building in a crowded neighborhood of Damascus. The attack reportedly destroyed the five-story building and killed an unknown number of civilians. Residents reported seeing the bodies of women and children in the rubble.

Holiday Appeal for Rasmea Odeh

Posted by uscsjp on December 21, 2015

from Tom Burke of the Committee to Stop FBI Repression

Happy Holidays To Our Friends and Supporters,
A few years ago, on September 24, 2010 at 8:00am, my friends started calling from Chicago and Minneapolis saying the FBI was turning their homes upside down searching for evidence of “material support for terrorism.” In Michigan, we quickly sent our 6-year old off to school and I left our home planning to write a press release: “Oppose FBI raids on anti-war and international solidarity activists.”

However, I soon realized someone in a sedan was following me. They sped off when I turned into my wife’s work and a large black SUV roared up behind me. Within minutes my wife and I were both subpoenaed to a grand jury by armed FBI agents. It was a scary moment, but we were not afraid for long because of the powerful response by peace and justice activists from around the country. You gave us courage and hope. We thank you for standing with the Anti-war 23, both then, and now as we face ongoing political repression.

As we enter 2016, we need your financial help to defend Rasmea Odeh. She is in the midst of a tough appeals process. Rasmea Odeh is a 68-year old woman who spent the last 20 years serving women and children in her community. She is being targeted for repression because she is an icon of the Palestinian liberation movement. This past year Angela Davis joined Rasmea Odeh in Chicago to denounce the U.S. government and to give the campaign a big boost, solidifying unity between African Americans and Palestinians.

The Committee to Stop FBI Repression continues to coordinate outreach and organizing against state repression. Our activists speak out against surveillance and political repression on the national and local level at conferences and protests. We are on the forefront nationally and locally in defending our rights to protest and to show solidarity.

In the coming year, your financial donation is key for Rasmea Odeh as she receives a ruling on her appeal. Please consider donating generously. As Rasmea says “It may not happen in a court room, but we will find justice in this world!”

The Committee to Stop FBI Repression is a grassroots all volunteer national organization. Your contribution will be spent funding our legal and political support for Rasmea Odeh.

Solidarity! Tom Burke

100 Palestinians Killed by Israeli Security Forces in Last 2 Months – Democracy Now!

Posted by uscsjp on December 4, 2015

In Israel and the Occupied Territories, Israeli soldiers have shot and killed two Palestinians they say were involved in stabbing and wounding a soldier in the Occupied West Bank city of Hebron Friday. The killings came one day after Israeli police in Jerusalem shot and killed two more Palestinians whom they say had carried out non-fatal attacks on Israeli authorities. The latest killings bring the last two months’ death toll to at least 100 Palestinians and 19 Israelis. Meanwhile, Israeli authorities say they arrested several young people in connection with the July firebombing of a Palestinian home in the Occupied West Bank, which killed an 18-month-old child and his parents.
