Thursday’s March 17 protest ad in the LA Times has generated even more buzz and support for the upcoming anti-war demonstration this Saturday. Acclaimed musician Ben Harper has confirmed he will play at the rally, along with Grammy-winning band Ozomatli and the legendary Jackson Browne.

KPFK, 90.7 FM will broadcast the rally live for hundreds of thousands to hear all over Southern California.

Most importantly, many tens of thousands will gather at the corner of Hollywood and Vine at 12 noon. People are coming from all parts of Southern California and surrounding states to join the mobilization and raise their voices against the war. March 17 is going to be huge!

In addition to thousands of organizations and individuals, there will be many contingents in the march: youth and students, African American Filipino, Korean, Arab and Muslim, immigrant rights, labor, women, veterans, soldiers’ families, LGBT equality and many more. There will also be drums and chanting.

Other speakers and entertainers at March 17 include, hip-hop artists Skim, the NOMADS, and Rebels to the Grain; Ron Kovic, Vietnam vet and author of Born on the Fourth of July; Martin Sheen, award-winning actor (“The West Wing”); Juan Jose Gutierrez, Latino Movement USA; Amy Brenneman, actor (“Judging Amy”); Maria Bello, Golden Globe-nominated actor; Don White, Coalition for World Peace; Greg Akili, African Americans Against the War; Jabbar Magruder, Iraq Veterans Against the War; Laura Dern, award-winning actor (“Inland Empire”); Jim Lafferty, National Lawyers Guild; Christine Araquel, Alliance for Just and Lasting Peace in the Philippines; Theresa Bonpane, Office of the Americas; Annalisa Enrile, Chairperson, GABRIELA Network; Margaret Prescod, Global Women’s Strike; Vicki Castro, Gold Star Families Speak Out; Rodrigo Argueta, Comite Pro-Democracia en Mexico; Muna Coobtee, National Council of Arab Americans; Shakeel Syed, Executive Director, Islamic Shura Council of Southern California; Kent Wong, UCLA Labor Center; Meri Ka Ra, World Can’t Wait and others.
